Doorknobs

A table full of crystal doorknobs that I came upon at a flea market in NYC several years ago. When I read this maxim from Eli Seigel’s book, “Damned Welcome,” I recalled having taken this photo.

“A doorknob turns around on itself, but doesn’t have its own way.”

Okay, maybe not one of my best photos, but there is some interest here. There is a lot of difference, but they are all doorknobs made of glass. There is substantial weight to each, but they are transpasrent which makes them seem not so heavy. And there is freedom and order in the composition. The 8 main doorknobs are lined up quite neatly and others around the top seem more carelessly placed as perhaps the interested customers have picked them up and casually replaced them to the table. And they were all sparkling in the bright sun!
