Let it snow!
Second week in December and no snow forecast in the immediate future. I thought I’d get into the spirit and post some of my favorite snow related images during the month. I do go out with my camera during snow storms whenever possible—whenever they happen.
This chance situation happened in January, 2016. As I rounded the corner of Jackson Street onto Grand, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan—there they were, two young ladies with those hot pink sleds, gloves to match and even pink trim on the tops of their boots. Against all that white; that pink, those dark coats and hats, and the softened distant color, I took my shot!
Two Pink Sleds
Those girls and their sleds, stand out, but are related to the objects on a city street, including the people coming towards them—all softened and muted by the falling snow. And look, there are 3 red stop lights across the top quarter of the image, which, muted by the snow, mimic and connect the pink sleds and the girls to what is distant. I smile every time I look at this, and I hope you do to! I was using my Canon 5D Mark III, with my 24-105 lens set at a focal length of 105mm. F4, 1/60, ISO 200.
